Who we are registered with, where the money comes from, how a budget is set and what every donor gets back in writing.
Registration
Abul Khair Welfare Organization is registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of Bangladesh, under Reg No. Brahman 615/24, granted in 2024. The registration covers the welfare activities described on this website: healthcare, food and emergency relief, education and livelihood support in Nabinagar Upazila, Brahmanbaria. Our NGO Affairs Bureau number is NGO Affairs Bureau registration number, or confirm the seal should be removed.
How we raise funds
We manage our regular activities through monthly contributions from our members, donations from like-minded friends and well-wishers, and support from volunteers. That regular income covers the running costs of the Friday clinic: the doctors' travel, the medicines, the office at Baishmouja Bazar and the stationery for patient records.
For ongoing projects we set a proposed budget first and then raise funds against it, rather than starting work and hoping the money appears. The Academic Building, the computer training center and the stipend program each have their own budget line.
In times of emergency, such as a flood, an accident or a cold spell, we go back to the community with a specific appeal. Many people who have never given before join us at those moments, and their contributions are accounted for separately from regular income.
We do not accept donations that come with conditions we cannot meet, and we do not take money whose source we cannot identify.
How we report
For every activity or project, we provide detailed reports to the respective donors and supporters who funded it. A donor who pays for a clinic day is told how many patients were seen and what was dispensed. A donor who funds a distribution receives the number of families and the unions covered.
Beyond that we publish summaries on this website and on our Facebook page, where each clinic day and campaign is written up with patient counts and case mix. Transparency and integrity are our core strengths, and we are committed to maintaining complete clarity in all our organizational activities.
Annual, project and financial reports as downloadable documents are being prepared. Until they are published, any donor or member of the public can request a written account of a specific project by email or through the form on our transparency page.

Questions about how we are run
Is AKWO a registered organization?
Yes. Abul Khair Welfare Organization is registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of Bangladesh, under Reg No. Brahman 615/24, granted in 2024. Our NGO Affairs Bureau number is being confirmed before we print it: NGO Affairs Bureau registration number, or confirm the seal should be removed
Where does your money come from?
Monthly contributions from our members, donations from friends and well-wishers, and the work of volunteers cover our regular activities. Each project has a proposed budget which we raise against before starting work. In an emergency such as a flood or a cold spell we go back to the community with a specific appeal, and that money is accounted for separately from regular income.
How do you report on what you spend?
Every donor to a specific activity receives a written account of that activity: what was delivered, to how many people and at what cost. Summaries are published on this website and on our Facebook page, with the patient count for every clinic report and the household count for every distribution. Downloadable annual, project and financial reports are being prepared, and until they are published a written account of any project is available on request.
How much of my donation goes on running costs?
The organization is run largely by volunteers and its office is a single building at Baishmouja Bazar, so overheads are small, but we will not quote a percentage we have not audited. The figure will be published with the first financial report: audited split between program costs and running costs
