A touch of warmth for 65 families
On 13 January 2025 we handed blankets to 65 families across Krishnanagar and Birgaon Unions, delivered personally so that nobody was missed.
Winter in Krishnanagar and Birgaon Union can be harsh, especially for families who struggle to stay warm. To bring some comfort, Abul Khair Welfare Organization stepped in. On January 13, 2025, we distributed blankets to 65 families, hoping to make the cold a little more bearable.
For many, a warm blanket is a simple necessity. But for those with limited resources it can be a lifeline. Understanding this, we made it our mission to reach those who needed help the most. Our team personally handed out each blanket, ensuring that no one was left behind.

How the list was made
Sixty-five households is a small number and choosing them is the hardest part of the work. The list was drawn from families already known to us through the clinic register and earlier relief distributions, weighted towards households with small children, elderly members or nobody earning. Handing each blanket over in person rather than leaving a pile at a collection point is what keeps that list honest.
More than an act of charity
This was about sharing warmth, not just physically but emotionally. The smiles, the words of gratitude and the relief in their eyes reminded us why we do what we do. A small gesture can mean the world to someone in need.
Thank you
None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our supporters. To everyone who contributed, thank you. Your kindness keeps our mission alive and helps us bring hope to those who need it the most.
Why blankets
Housing here is thin-walled and unheated, and bedding is one of the first things a household stops replacing when money is short. A thermal blanket is cheap, it lasts several winters, and it prevents exactly the chest infections and joint pain that fill our clinic through January and February. Measured against what it costs, very little else we hand out does as much.
It reaches the right people, too. The households most at risk in a cold spell are the ones with a small child, an elderly member or nobody earning, and those are the same households already on our clinic and relief registers.
The winter appeal runs each year from January. If you would like the next distribution to reach more than 65 households, that is entirely a question of what is raised before the cold arrives.

Support our Emergency Relief work
When a flood, a fire, a cold snap or a medical emergency hits a household here, our job is to arrive in days rather than months, and to say honestly what we can and cannot cover.
