EducationCompletion of the 18th batch of Office Applications
The 18th batch of the free Office Applications course has finished at the Abul Khair Computer Training Center, with prizes for performance and for perfect attendance.

Programs · Education
A free course in office applications, taught batch by batch in a village where paid computer training would be out of reach. Eighteen batches have finished it.
The Abul Khair Computer Training Center was set up so that students in this part of Nabinagar could learn the software that every clerical, teaching and administrative job now assumes you know. Training is free. The center provides the machines, the electricity and the instructor, and students provide their attendance.
Courses run in batches with a fixed start and finish, which is what makes the certificate mean something. Students are encouraged throughout to think of themselves as future skilled professionals in the IT sector rather than as people who have attended a class.
The course covers the applications an employer expects: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, file management, printing and basic internet and email use. It is taught in Bengali, on the machines students will actually meet in a local office.
At the end of each batch there is a closing event. Prizes are awarded for excellent performance, including first and second places, and there is separate recognition for perfect attendance, because turning up every day through a harvest or a flood is itself an achievement here.
The 18th batch of Office Applications completed its long journey in February 2025, with each student performing well. Certificates were handed to every student who finished.
| Batch | Completed | Students | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18th | February 2025 | number of students in the 18th batch | Prizes for first and second place and for perfect attendance |
| 1st to 17th | dates of batches 1 to 17 | class sizes for batches 1 to 17 | Records held at the training center |
School and college students, young people who have finished their education and are looking for clerical or administrative work, and a steady number of women for whom a certificate is the difference between working from home and not working at all. Batches are mixed, and the closing photographs show as many young women as men.
There is no entrance test. What is asked is that a student attends, which is why perfect attendance is recognized separately at the end of each batch alongside the marks.
The center's costs are simple and they are the reason it needs support: machines that have to be replaced as they wear out, electricity for a room full of computers in a district where power is not free, and an instructor's time for the length of a batch. Nothing is charged to students at any point, including the certificate.
Enrolment opens between batches. To be told when the next one starts, contact us with your name, your age, your village and how far you have studied. Select Education as the subject on the contact form and we will add you to the list for the next intake.
There is no fee at any point and there is no charge for the certificate.
